there are no men
”Here?” Jaime pointed and Tyrion nodded eagerly. The older Lannister brother took a needle, touching it to the tip of his torch before forcing it through the metal where Tyrion had instructed. It pushed out the other end, knot in the string holding it firmly in place between the two pieces of armor. They’d been planning on scaring people using the old suit of armor, however it had been Tyrion’s idea to attach strings to it, “like a puppet”, he explained in a way that made Jaime feel foolish for not having come up with it himself. He jumped from the podium, giving the string a tug and watching with an excited grin as the arm swung down. ”It worked!” He quickly put up the others, handing half the strings to his brother before hiding behind the wall. Tyrion creeped behind the suit, grinning at Jaime as he waited quietly. Jaime had skipped out on one of his lessons this morning and surprised him by asking if he wanted to play the prank and Tyrion had been ecstatic. The two hadn’t spent much time together lately.. Jaime’s time mostly taken up by training, and Cersei wanting to be with him every waking moment when he was available. He felt bad, and this had been his way of making it up.
”Someone’s coming.” Tyrion whispered a few moments later, hearing footsteps down the hallway.
”Do it.”
They pulled the string in unison and the arms flung out, head bowing forward. There was a shrill scream and frantic footsteps running in the other direction before both boys dissolved into laugher.
”Did you hear—“
”I can’t believe she—“
They both came out of their hiding spots, though a string had gotten caught on the button of Tyrion’s sleeve as he pulled it the support inside the armor snapped. Jaime grabbed the other strings but instead of holding it in place it only offered a moment of resistance before the suit clattered to the ground, breaking into a few dozen pieces.
Tyrion jumped back, not wanting to be crushed. He stared at the mess with wide eyes. ”It’s broken. I broke it.”
”It’s okay. It’s okay.” Jaime promised, trying to think. It was armor.. They’d be able to put it back together. However, before they had the chance, there were voices heading towards them. The woman must have told someone what happened. Jaime was opening his mouth before he even thought about what he was saying. He grabbed his brother’s hand. ”Run!”
It was admittedly, a terrible idea. The two of them looked more than awkward, struggling to run at the same pace, still tangled up in strings with a few small pieces of armor banging on the ground behind them that hadn’t yet gotten detached. They made it to the corner of the next hall but Jaime hadn’t been paying enough attention to avoid running into people. One of them tripped and they both fell, literally at the feet of Tywin Lannister.

there is a tool for every task,
and a task for every tool. If Tywin wasn’t so concerned about the Lannister lineage he may have considered killing Jamie and Tyrion today. But he had to remind himself all that he fought for. All that he rebuilt after his bumbling father screwed up the Lannister name. He had to remind himself, that despite his deep hatred for Tyrion, he was still a Lannister. And until he could prove that he wasn’t his son, he was family. And family was all they had left at the end of the day. But you know just because he wasn’t going to kill doesn’t mean he wasn’t going to make their lives hell. Oh no. He was most definitely going to think of a suitable punishment for them. As soon as he found them. Tywin walked swiftly through the halls of Casterly Rock, ignoring the servants that walked past him. He could not Jamie would do something as stupid as skip a lesson. He had a family and a name to up hold. Then again Jamie wasn’t as clever as Tyrion or Cersei, seems like the gods cursed each child in their own special way. The man turned the corner when he heard a crash. He paused mid-step, taking a deep breath. He closed his eyes and quickly shook the urge to start screaming as he began walking again. He went towards the sound of the noise, assuming that that’s where his boys were. And sure enough the two idiots came running around the corner and literally fell right in front of him. Tywin immediately stopped and looked down at them with a hard glare. He cleared his throat, waiting for them to stand and fix themselves. He wasn’t going to dignify them with anything until they looked a little less ridiculous. Once they were standing though, Lord Lannister opened his mouth, “Where should I start? At Jamie’s blatant disregard for his studies, both of your irresponsible natures, or how you came to look so ridiculous?” He passed a look between the two of them. They were Lannisters, why couldn’t they understand that? That name came with a reputation that Tywin worked very hard to earn. And he would rather have maggots eat him alive than have these two destroy that reputation.

They were dead. They were beyond dead. Jaime straightened up first and got to his feet first, Tyrion following quickly in his lead. The younger Lannister was too afraid to look at his father, let alone speak. ”Father,” Jaime started, bowing his head. ”Where should I start? At Jaime’s blatant disregard for his studies, both of your irresponsible natures, or how you came to look so ridiculous?” ”My lesson was canceled.” Jaime explained. It was only half a lie. The lesson had been canceled, however at Jaime’s beckoning, and with an excuse that wasn’t exactly true. "I was going to make it up later. Today." Jaime didn’t even understand why he needed to study such boring things. His talent was obviously with a sword. ”The rest was an accident.” Perhaps if they could get their father to believe that, the punishment would be less severe. "It wont happen again."

there is a tool for every task,
and a task for every tool. Father. It was good Jamie was trying to keep some of his dignity. Tyrion on the other hand looked like a scared mouse. Tywin wasn’t sure if he liked the idea of his son acting a scared mouse or not. He liked that he struck fear in his heart however he was a Lannister. Despite many things. Tyrion was lion, he needed to start acting like it. My lesson was canceled. “Oh really?” Tywin questioned feigning surprise. He narrowed his eyes at Jamie. “And who was the one that canceled it? The teacher or you?” Yea either answer pretty much screwed over Jamie. If it was him then Tywin would get mad because clearly he did not have an excuse. And it he said the teacher than Tywin would go ask the instructor. And the instructor would surely tell the truth, there was no way they would lie to Lord Tywin. I was going to make it up later. Today. “And when were you planning on doing your lesson? Between making yourself and me look like a fool, cleaning up your mess, and serving your punishment…it seems like you won’t have the time.” Of course the two boys probably didn’t think they would be caught. But it was Tywin, even if they didn’t fall straight to his feet he would still find out about it. Though Tywin had to give SOME credit to the boy at least he was trying to make the situation better. Unlike Tyrion. The rest was an accident. It won’t happen again. See, if Jamie did what he was told, Tywin would believe him. His father had thought he was at his lesson today and he wasn’t, essentially lying to his father. The believability of this whole thing kind of went out the window. “Was it all an accident, Tyrion?” Tywin asked his youngest son, turning his hard gaze to him. “Please describe this so called accident.” Tywin wasn’t sure how they ended up in their mess. He didn’t know what the two were doing when they were supposed to be doing their studies.

”And who was the one that canceled it? The teacher or you?” Alright well… Jaime had tried. ”I was,” he admitted, knowing that that was the best answer he could give. He knew he’d have been caught anyway eventually… he’d just been hoping it wouldn’t happen for a few more hours. By that he would have thought of something. Maybe.. He really hadn't thought through it. ”And when were you planning on doing your lesson? Between making yourself and me look like a fool, cleaning up your mess, and serving your punishment… it seems like you won’t have the time.” ”My day did just get very busy.” Jaime replied, with a touch more sarcasm than was probably appropriate for the situation. ”I’ll make the time.” He amended himself. After all they’d already made themselves look like fools so that was one thing they could cross off the list.
”Was it all an accident, Tyrion?” Jaime glanced at his brother, unsure he’d know what to say, but he looked up hesitantly and met Tywin’s glare. ”Yes, father.” he replied, with no indication that he was lying. ”Please describe this so called accident.” Jaime looked away, though again, his brother managed to impress him. It was like he didn’t even need to think about it before deciding what to say. He rushed through what they knew was a clearly made up explanation. ”We were going outside. Jaime was going to show me how to use one of the practice swords. When we heard someone coming we were worried Jaime would get caught for missing his lesson, so we ran. I tripped and knocked over the statue. Nobody saw us… except for you.” Both Jaime and Tyrion looked at their father sort of expectantly, wanting to know if the man would buy the excuse. ”We’re sorry.” he added, emphasizing Jaime’s earlier point.
