Tensions were high near the Dragonstone, and Melisandre could feel this in the air. In mere days, many of Stannis's men along with Stannis himself would be sailing into Blackwater Bay to lay siege to King's Landing. And Stannis would become the new King of the Seven Kingdoms, if all that she had seen was right.
Melisandre noticed that Stannis had been spending much time alone in recent nights, not speaking to Selyse or Shireen. He had not been seen very much in the halls of the Dragonstone. And, thus, Melisandre decided that it was up to her to pay a visit to the True King.
Melisandre slipped into Stannis's chambers, unstopped by Stannis's guard. It was dark, for it was the cusp of the night, but the Dragonstone was alit by dim candles. She saw Stannis in his quarters, gazing across the Narrow Sea. She could not help but briefly recall where she had come from, Asshai, the Land by the Shadow. And her fate had brought her to Stannis.
"Your Grace," Melisandre announced her presence in a soft tone. The King in the Dragonstone did not move for her. Instead, she swooped to him, picking up a nearby candlestick and letting it light her way as she approached him. 
She stood behind him, studying the tide of the Narrow Sea lapping against the isle of Dragonstone. "Do not fear the Blackwater," Melisandre assured Stannis, looming over him, "For you are the Son of Fire who will burn bright enough to burn out all the waters of all the lands. She held the candlestick up to the open window, where despite the raging winds, the flame did not flicker out despite its dancing.
Melisandre stood to watch the flames of the great brazier. There, she saw Stannis's victory over the Blackwater.
