KAILA SELENE AMELL
"your hands upon a dead man's gun and you're looking down the sights"
personality: Kaila is a very changeable person. She often acts based on her emotions, though she tries to be careful not to do anything too reckless. At least not where anybody can see her. Still, she is very proud and will not take insults of humiliation well. Anyone who does try to embarrass her is likely to be met with either a stream of ridicule or a fist to the face. As a person, she inhabits a morally grey area. Typically, she does whatever she wants even if it's against the law. However, she does try her best to avoid wronging others unless she believes that she has no other choice. She's not completely devoid of principle. However, she has no sympathy for the rich of the world and will often go out of her way to annoy or trouble them. It's why she does what she does.
full name: Kaila Selene Amell, "Magpie"
age: Twenty-two
occupation: Spy/thief
affiliation: Whoever's willing to pay
history: Kaila is a child of King's Landing. She was born to Cassius and Aria Amell, the third of their five children (though just barely, as her twin brother likes to remind her). Her father was a reasonably wealthy merchant in the city and her mother the youngest daughter of a knight. All in all, her family was well-off, particularly when compared to the individuals living in the slums. However, things couldn't stay good forever. Fortunes changed, as they always seemed to do. And they changed for the worse. When she was four, her mother and grandfather were killed by bandits while travelling the Kingsroad to visit relatives. At age six, a supply shortage led to her father taking up smuggling. At age eight, he was arrested.
Her eldest brother, William, began to take care of the family after that. Still, despite his best efforts, they had five mouths to feed and almost no coin. So, they stole, relying on tricks taught to them by an old friend of their father. He was on of the few willing to spend his time on a group of paupers. Kaila learned everything he had to teach, then went out on her own and learned more. Eventually her two elder siblings were able to secure employment and leave their life of crime behind them. Kaila didn't do the same. She was good at it and her customers paid well. Why would she want to do anything else?
Kaila twisted her hand, maneuvering her fingers with a deft expertise, listening and feeling for her goal. No. No. Almost. Click. And there. Lock pick already sliding back into her sleeve, she placed her hand on the latch. Pushed. The door opened with a slight groan. Nothing loud enough to rouse someone from sleep, but loud enough to give her pause in her tracks. If someone was awake- One, two, three... she counted. There was nothing. All right, we're good to keep going.
She stepped inside, staying low and keeping her steps light. This was the biggest job she had had in months; some squeaky floorboard wasn't about to screw it up.
Her pace slowed as she passed an open door snores were steadily floating out of. Asleep. Good. It was always so much easier to steal from the unconscious. Tonight doesn't look like it'll be an exception.
She turned her head, glancing around the small shadowed room she was currently crouching in. There was little of interest, mostly just empty space and poorly built furniture. But in one corner, there it was. Just where her contact had said it would be.
Keeping an eye on her surroundings, Kaila slowly crept forward until the necklace she had come for was within arm's reach. It was an ugly piece of jewelry, gaudy and heavier than any necklace had a right to be. But hey, she wasn't being paid to wear it.
Pocketing the appalling ornament, she turned and began to head back the way she came.
