i didn't wanna be the first to say everyone around here thinks you're cray-zy
Podrick had been assigned a very easy job and so it was very likely that he was going to find a way to mess it up. He just had to deliver some wine glasses to a dining room where another dinner was being set up because apparently all the important people were having special dinners at the same time. Evidently these were really good wine glasses… as opposed to every other glass that could hold wine. Podrick didn’t understand it… but he wasn’t going to argue. The faster he finished, the faster he could get back to Tyrion and they could sit around and joke about how the wine glasses were nothing special. Anyway, he messed up. He walked by one of the rooms just as Loras was leaving and knocked right into him, dropping all of the glasses onto the floor. His face flushed red and he bent down immediately, starting to wipe up the glass onto the tray they’d been on. ”I’m so sorry. It’s my fault—“ he stammered, all before even noticing who he’d knocked into. He glanced up and his expression softened instantly. ”Oh—Sir Loras—“ his eyebrows furrowed. ”Are you alright?” It was sort of clear that the guy was seconds from exploding. Pod looked around quickly before hiding the tray and glass behind a pillar and gesturing toward his own room. ”Would you like to come with me?”

Loras wasn’t paying any attention to where he was going at all. He’d high tailed it out of the room, vision blurry and fists clenched, nothing on his mind other than getting out of there... and Joffrey and Olenna and Renly and okay actually there was a lot on his mind at the moment. He felt like he’d been punched in the stomach and he just wanted to make it to his room without having to speak to anyone. So of course, about three feet after walking out the door, he ran right into Podrick. ”Sorry,” he mumbled at the same time Podrick started apologizing. Were it anyone else Loras probably would have kept walking, but he knelt down and helped the younger boy pick up the glass. He'd been staring at the ground so it was probably his fault anyway. ”Oh— Sir Loras— are you alright?” ”Fine.” Why couldn’t he lie like his sister? Margaery was good at it. ”Would you like to come with me?” He nodded without even thinking about it, before glancing at the guy with slight confusion. ”Where are we going?” If there was people there that probably wasn’t going to work out.

The more he looked at Loras, the more concerned Podrick became. He’d never seen the guy like that. Fine. The boy frowned a little, knowing very well that Loras was not fine. He didn’t want to push the guy but he also didn’t want to leave him upset. He figured he’d leave it up to him. Where are we going? ”My room—it’ll be private, I assure you.” He grinned slightly, gesturing down the hall before starting to walk there. He was willing to risk getting into trouble for dropping glass for this. This was definitely more important. Once they got to the door, Podrick led Loras in. The room was very small and pretty empty but at least no one else would be in there. ”I don’t get many visitors,” he joked. ”You can share as much, or as little, as you’d like.”

”My room— it’ll be private, I assure you.” Loras nodded again, following Podrick quickly away from the scene. He kept his eyes on the floor until they were in Podrick’s room. ”I don’t get many visitors.” ”I’ve no idea why. You’re better company than anyone else in this godsforsaken kingdom.” he muttered, already loosing every censor he’d been taught to possess. He trusted Podrick— the kid was one of the few genuinely nice people Loras had ever met. For the record, the other genuinely nice people he met were all dead. So clearly that was a good trait. ”You can share as much, or as little, as you’d like.” He shook his head, laughing bitterly as he ran his hands through his hair. ”Have dinner with the king, she said, it’ll be a great idea, she said.” They shouldn’t even have been there. This whole thing was horse shit orchestrated by some power hungry old people who were probably all clinically insane and he was so done.

I’ve no idea why. You’re better company than anyone else in this godforsaken kingdom. Pod gave the guy an apologetic look. He knew where the guy was coming from. Most people in the kingdom would have agreed with that, but very few would have said it. ”Be careful what you say out there,” he reminded thoughtfully. He wanted Loras to know that he could say whatever he wanted to Podrick but he’d hate to see the guy executed for losing his cool around the wrong people. Have dinner with the king, she said, it’ll be a great idea, she said. ”Oh no,” Podrick said with a frown. That was already enough to make sense of Loras’s current state. ”I’ve heard—you’ve had to spent quite a bit of time with him. I don’t blame you for being angry.” Podrick could only imagine what the guy had said to Loras. Luckily, Podrick didn’t really spend a lot of time around Joffrey. ”I know that you’re being forced into this—and I commend you for doing it, but I’d hate to see you trapped.” If there was anything the guy could do… even just to get less time around the king… it’d help him out.

”Be careful what you say out there.” Loras ‘pft’ed, sliding down against the wall and crossing his arms. ”Too late for that.” He’d kind of just pissed off the king so he probably wasn’t going to have a very long life. At the moment, he was convinced that it could have been worse. ”I’ve heard— you’ve had to spend quite a bit of time with him. I don’t blame you for being angry.” ”I hate him,” Loras emphasized, because he could. Because nobody else would say it up loud. ’Everyone hates him. He’s a lousy excuse for a king and worse one for a human being.” At this point, Loras just wanted him dead. Surely the merit would outweigh the consequences. ”I know that you’re being forced into this— and I commend you for doing it, but I’d hate to see you trapped.” ”What are you commending me for? Enabling the tyranny? King’s Landing would have fallen had we not allied ourselves with the Lannisters at Blackwater. Cercei was moments away from killing herself when we stormed the castle.” And how fucking wonderful that would have been. He combed through his hair again, ”We threw our support into the king we wanted to win and when he died we bent our knee to the next one like our loyalty meant nothing. It’s dishonorable, treacherous,” He felt dirty. How nobody else had a problem with this was completely beyond him.

I hate him. Everyone hates him. He’s a lousy excuse for a king and worse one for a human being. Podrick simply nodded, letting the guy vent. He really did need it. ”I’m with you,” he assured, though with a clear hesitance. It felt uncomfortable for him to say it when they could be killed for thinking such a thing. ”You’re not alone.” Loras was right. Everyone felt the same way about Joffrey except for his mother. Pod frowned slightly when Loras started spilling out how he felt. ”You mustn’t blame anyone but the king and queen.” Just because they’d made it to power didn’t mean other people were responsible for their reign. ”They believe they’re entitled to the throne—they’d have fought for it either way.” They would have always been corrupt and manipulative and it didn’t matter through what means they acted. He looked downward, placing a hand on Loras’s shoulder as he continued. It’s dishonorable, treacherous, ”And it wasn’t you.” he pointed out. ”You’re not responsible for the actions of your blood.” There were plenty of people that applied to. Tyrion… Jaime… Podrick. Loras didn’t deserve to feel that he’d done wrong.

”You mustn’t blame anyone but the king and queen.” Loras scoffed, ”And you can’t blame them out loud.” There were so many rules to follow. Loras had no problem blaming Joffrey and his mother. Loras had no problem blaming them at all… except when they went around blaming everyone else and he was expected to agree with it. ”They’d have fought for it either way.” He knew that was right. ”What’s so great about being bloody king anyway?” He didn’t understand. People were fighting over it. People were dying over it and then what.. you got to sit around in the most uncomfortable looking chair in the world and wait to get executed. The Tyrells had money— not as much as the Lannisters, but plenty enough to get by. They didn’t need Kings Landing. They didn’t need any of this shit. And it wasn’t you. You’re not responsible for the actions of your blood.” ”But I’m here.” He was responsible for his own actions. He may not have agreed with this crazy plan be he hadn’t said no. He took a deep breath, glancing up at Podrick. ”Thank you.” The guy had pretty much committed treason by listening to him so.. he deserved it.
