no, i want to be
the queen “Good gracious what is taking so long Margaery?” Olenna asked as she sat on the girl’s bed with a bored expression. The old woman thought it would be nice for her grandchildren to have a dinner together before Margaery and Loras were sent off to Renly. It was a nice idea, however Olenna was starting to regret her decision to get ready with Margaery. The woman was taking forever.
“I just want to look perfect for my brothers…who knows when I will see Garlan and Willas again,” Margaery stated from her desk as she put the last pin in her hair. Margaery was going to be married to Renly and Loras was going to be part of his army. Who knows how long the battle for the throne would last. Not to mention Olenna would never let Willas leave High Garden, being the heir and all. Not to mention how many women actually see their families after being married off.
“No matter what you look like they will only see you as their little sister who poured buckets of water on them and broke windows.”
“One. It was one window, Grandma.” Margaery fixed the last of her appearance before standing up and giving her arm to her Grandma. The old lady sighed, stood up, and linked her arm with her granddaughter’s. It only took them a few minutes for make it to the dinner area. Her brothers already there of course, they don’t have as many things to deal with when it came to appearances. Lucky men.
“Well finally we are here. I’m starving,” Olenna stated as soon as she entered the room. The old woman made a beeline for her seat. If they wanted a hello or a hug they would have to come to her. She was hungry and well she was their elder. They should go to her, it was only polite.
Margaery rolled her eyes as she walked over to Garlan and Willas. “Sorry to keep you waiting, Grandma isn’t as fast as she used to be.”
“What did I tell you about lying to family Margaery?”

”If they don’t show up soon, the food’s going to get cold.” Galan pointed out, in attempt to make conversation. The three brothers were seated at the dinner table waiting for Margaery and Olenna. A number covered plates had been brought out, containing Loras and Margaery’s favorite foods. Though they normally weren’t a very formal bunch, they’d all put an effort into looking somewhat presentable. Loras pulled at his sleeves uncomfortably, Galan nudged him with his elbow.
”Cheer up, little brother. I happen to know that there’s chocolate cake under one of those plates.” Loras smiled slightly, knowing what his brother was trying to do. He was excited to leave Highgarden and serve in Renly’s Kingsguard, the whole thing was pretty much everything he’d ever wanted, but he was going to miss his brothers… and even his grandma. They were a close family and it was impossible to think that after all this time they might never see each other again. At least he had Margaery.
And speak of the devil, ”Sorry to keep you waiting, Grandma isn’t as fast as she used to be.” Loras chuckled at his grandmother’s statement, not surprised by her lack of proper greeting. ”Well hello to you too.”
”What did I tell you about lying to family Margaery?” ”That it should only be done if the lie is believable,” Willas teased, kissing his sister on the cheek.
”And Loras shouldn’t do it.” Garlan threw in.
”That’s because Loras’s are never believable.”
The youngest Tyrell sighed dramatically. ”You say there’s a giant blue porcupine in the closet one time—“
”One?” Willas questioned.
”He’s said that at least twice last week.”
”Both of you be quiet." Loras huffed jokingly. "Grandma wasn’t even talking to you.”

oh, i'd nearly forgotten.
Well hello to you too. Olenna waved nonchalantly to her youngest grandson. She had said hello to him enough times in her life time. One miss opportunity won’t be the down fall of High Garden. “Let’s eat,” Olenna stated, she was more worried about her stomach. Really it was starting to eat itself. She uncovered the first plate of food and began glancing over what was on it. Everything the kitchen made was for Margaery and Loras so it was all their favorites. Which happened to be sweet things mostly but there were some hardy meats and fruits in the mix.
That it should only be done if the lie is believable. Margaery rolled her eyes at her grandmother and brother. And Loras shouldn’t do it. “And Loras shouldn’t do it,” the woman stated at the same time as Garlan. She threw her older brother a small wink as she sat down next to Willas. Then it was suddenly gang up on Loras time. Margaery laughed at her brothers as she picked up some grapes from the table. He said that at least twice last week. “And once this morning!” Margaery chimed in popping a grape into her mouth.
Both of you be quiet. Grandma wasn’t even talking to you. “Now now Loras, don’t get mad at your siblings for speaking the truth.” Olenna let out a laugh as she sent a smile towards the other three. “Though you might want to get better at lying while you are away. Just a suggestion.” Loras was going to have to lie at some point with other nobles around. Sure with Renly, Margaery and Loras were probably good to be themselves. At least Loras. Margaery was going to have to asset the situation and deem want kind of wife she should be. Olenna had faith in her granddaughter to be a wonderful wife. And had faith that Loras would be a great knight, though Renly would be smart to keep him away from more difficult nobles.
“It’s okay Loras, your big sister will protect you from the terrible nobles.” Margaery let out a laugh as she grabbed more food for her belly.

love your enemies
nothing makes them more mad
Loras let out a scoff when Olenna waved him off. Garlan laughed. ”Tomorrow you’re going to miss me.” The youngest Tyrell informed pointedly.
”You think very highly of yourself,” Willas remarked.
”Yeah, we weren’t planning on missing you until next week.” Garlan said, as if it were something they’d deliberated very seriously.
And then everyone decided to gang up on Loras. ”Don’t get mad at your siblings for speaking the truth.” Loras rolled his eyes, busying himself putting food on his plate.
”Though you might want to get better at lying while you are away.” ”Or you could just find a giant blue porcupine.” Garlan suggested. ”I feel like that would be easier for you.” He had the same concerns as his grandmother.
”Maybe I will,” Loras retorted… They’d see. He could lie well when he wanted to. He just… never wanted to. Yeah, that was it. ”It’s okay Loras, your big sister will protect you from the terrible nobles.” He smirked at his sister, ”Margaery can be very intimidating.”

no, i want to be
the queen Loras declared that tomorrow he was going to be missed. Which was true. Olenna was going to miss both Loras and Margaery. Her two grandchild that she had taught pranks to. She was going to miss them deeply. She was willing to say that to Margaery because well it wouldn’t go to her head too much. However Loras’ confidence was already rather large, Olenna feared if it grew more then his head might actually explode. Yeah, we weren’t planning on missing you until next week. “Next week?” Olenna questioned. “I thought we agreed on two weeks time.” She smirked over at her youngest grandson. Because it was most definitely deliberated amongst them.
Or you could just find a giant blue porcupine. Margaery chuckled at Garlan’s comment. It more than likely would be easier. For everyone involved. Margaery can be very intimidating. The woman attempted to make a menacing look before breaking the expression and laughing.
Olenna chuckled and shook her head. “Maybe Margaery should have become the knight?” That was clearly a joke. Margaery could barely hold a sword. While the woman was athletic, swords were not something she was fit to use.
“I can’t do all the work!” Margaery exclaimed grabbing fresh piece of bread from the silver plate. She ripped off a small piece off and tossed it into her mouth. Come on now, she was not that talented.

”Next week? I thought we agreed on two weeks time.” ”Shhh, grandmother!” Garlan laughed. "I was trying to be nice." And apparently this was what he got for trying to be a nice person. He leaned over towards Margaery and Loras, whispering ”Her memory’s starting to go.”
”Maybe Margaery should have become the knight?” Loras laughed. ”As long as her opponents are all windows.” he teased. Yup, nope, she still wasn’t living that down.
”I can’t do all the work!” ”Willas could do your job if he was a girl.” Garlan pointed out helpfully, examining a piece of fruit.
Willas wrinkled his nose. ”Yes but then who would do everyone else’s jobs?” Loras? Garlan? Exactly. Clearly he and Margaery were beyond talented. They had to do everything.
”Garlan and I are knights.” Loras pointed out. That was a job. And it was important. Yanno sometimes.

oh, i'd nearly forgotten.
Shhh, grandmother! Olenna rolled her eyes at her grandson. I was trying to be nice. “You are amongst family, Garlan. Being honest is more valued than being nice.” It was true. Olenna preferred her family to be honest with each other, you know since they couldn’t be honest with each other. Lying so much could tear a person apart and she preferred her family to be close. After all they were the only ones that they could rely on, let’s be honest.
Her memory’s starting to go. Margaery let out a chuckle and then pointed to her grandma. “But not her hearing,” she countered, as she saw the glare Olenna was throwing at Garlan. The old lady grabbed a piece of bread and chucked in at her grandson’s head, smirking innocently at him. Margaery moved out of the way as to not be hit by the flying food, before turning her attention to Loras. As long as her opponents are all windows. “One window. It was one window, let it go.” And if memory serves her right she only did it so they could have adventures, so you’re welcome. And then suddenly Garlan and Loras were ganging up on her. Which wasn’t fair in the least. Willas could do your job if he was a girl. Luckily Willas came to her rescue, kind of. Yes but then who would do everyone else’s jobs? “Not them,” Margaery and Olenna answered simultaneously, smirking at each other and then at Willas.
Garlan and I are knights. “Lucky for you two that doesn’t require you to talk to anyone,” Olenna stated, giving her grandsons a mischievous look before taking a sip of her drink.

nothing irritates them more
"You are amongst family, Garlan. Being honest is more valued than being nice." "But what if I'm an honestly nice person?" Garlan questioned, smirking in the most charming way he knew how.
Willas rolled his eyes good-naturedly. "Another lie." he called out. "But not her hearing." "You really ought to quit while you're ahead, brother." Apparently it was gang up on Garlan time.
"One window. It was one window, let it go." "Never," Loras declared, placing an arm around his sister's shoulders and laying his head on her shoulder nearest to him. He pulled away when the critiquing started, shaking his head as he looked at Garlan while Willas and the girls exchanged smirks.
"Lucky for you two that doesn't require you to talk to anyone." "Talk is boring— we speak with actions." Garlan explained, and Loras nodded his agreement.
